Dogs are always welcome at the Old Swan & Minster Mill - sitting quietly on the banks of the River Windrush, the historic inn and adjoining mill have recently been restored by the legendary hoteliers, the de Savary Family. You’ll enjoy the finest of experiences during your stay - including our four-legged friends – through gastro-pub dining, country-cosy rooms and over 65 acres of private gardens and wild-flower meadows crossed with paths designed for your dog to explore.

To showcase what a magnificent retreat the Old Swan and Minister Mill makes for both two and four legged guests, Chien Bleu in conjunction with the Old Swan & Minster Mill are organising an action packed weekend of great British hospitality.

Friday, 5 October 2012. Arrive in the afternoon at your leisure and, after settling into your accommodation, take a stroll in the gardens or perhaps take tea in one of the newly restored snugs. Blue and I will be making the rounds to personally welcome you and perhaps share in a bit of tea and some dog treats.

For those able to arrive a bit early, why not take advantage of a personal photo session, included with each reservation, with the extraordinary pet photographers Waggy Tails. Don’t worry if you can’t make it as sessions will be available throughout the weekend.

To formally kick the weekend off, welcome drinks will be held in the early evening, during which we’ll explain the plan and route for Saturday’s hike. Mingle and swap dog travel stories at your leisure or until your stomach gets the better of you, at which point you can wander off to the hotel’s fabulous restaurant, where individual tables will be available for dinner.

Saturday, 6 October 2012. If your dog will allow you a good lie-in, take advantage of it as you’ll need the rest for the day’s activities. Enjoy a full English breakfast at your leisure and then, in late morning, we’ll set off for a guided hike to Swinbrook along the River Windrush and through some

stunning countryside. If the 2 ½ hour route doesn’t work up an appetite, the site and smells of the Swan at Swinbrook should. Here, we will enjoy lunch and a rest before setting off back to the hotel, arriving in good time for tea (or perhaps a massage at the hotel’s amazing spa or, instead, a lovely nap in the cosy rooms). Waggy Tails will be available throughout the day for your individual photo shoot.

That evening, we’ll enjoy drinks together followed by a private dinner with a special guest speaker in the Lovell Dining Room. At 10:30pm, those looking for more fun can enjoy the short torch-lit walk to Minster Lovell Hall ruins with a local historian.

Sunday, 7 October 2012. Rise and shine at your leisure to enjoy a hearty breakfast and one last walk about the property before you depart. Those wishing to stay on for a traditional Sunday lunch (booking essential) may enjoy late check-out to 4pm. From the moment you and your trusty friend arrive, we ensure you have a stay to remember.

Included in the price of £295 per person:

  • A welcome pack in your room with doggie treats, dog basket, suggested walks and tailored information.
  • Dinner for the ''Doggies'', selected from the chef’s canine menu will be served in your room, whilst the ''Humans'' enjoy a three course dinner for two in one of the cosy snugs in the Old Swan and group dinner on Saturday evening.
  • 2 Nights Luxury overnight accommodation in the Minster Mill plus a full traditional English breakfast each morning.
  • Lunch at the Swan at Swinbrook.
  • Drinks receptions each evening.
  • Full use of all facilities including tennis court, petanque, croquet.
  • All other drinks, wines and meals charged individually.

The Rectory Hotel is the epitome of serene country living, and Chien Bleu’s gourmet gem is located just 70 minutes by train from London Paddington. Home to 12 beautiful rooms, this countryside retreat set on three acres of land will have both man and dog leaving their stresses, strains and scales at the door before indulging in a weekend of foodie heaven.

The Rectory Hotel’s restaurant combines sophisticated glamour with hearty English fare. Local and organic ingredients have created

delicious dishes, including scallop tortellini and pheasant terrine followed by specialities including seared Sea Bass and Venison. There will be no begging for scraps at this restaurant either, as the Rectory’s room service menu for canine guests will keep all dogs quietly entertained as they settle into their comfy room and ponder over starter, main and the all important dessert.

Continuing the gourmet experience, the Rectory’s sister property and award winning pub, the Pottingshed, is located a few paw-steps across the

road. Awarded 2012 National Pub of the Year, the Pottingshed offers seasonal food and well kept beers on tap for thirsty travellers. There won’t be any puppy dog eyes peering through windows here, as all dogs are invited to join their owners and enjoy their dinner in the cosiness of the pub. For dogs that are more deserving of a rib eye than a bone, the Pottingshed will whip up a culinary treat that will bring doggie dining to the next level.
